I could tell you now how super exciting and adventurous my stay in Trogir was and what amazing things I did but to be brutally honest with you guys, the first day I and some co-workers just went out to eat and get some drinks. Saturday after we were done with academy and left the marina, we took a cap which brought us to our airbnb we had booked for two nights. After being on a sailing boat for a full week the first thing we did was take a shower and realax aka take naps.
Next on our agenda was to get something to eat and not be the one in charge to cook and make meal plans for at least these two days. For a late lunch we went to a pizza place at the water front to watch the boats as well as the people. The restaurant RIVA had a great service even tho they were full and were super busy. The waiters reacted really fast and the food was in front of us in no time at all and it was super delicious. I can highly recommend this restaurant for food and the price was low compared to others at the waterfront. When we were done with Lunch we waited for a couple others and strolled thru old town Trogir, which was pretty nice and relaxing. Later on we walked by a nice sitting area from a different restaurant and decided to sit down to enjoy some wine. Over all the restaurant “Dionis” was okay, if you are okay with slower waiters and them not exactly bringing what you ordered, I ordered 3 times a Chardonnay and each time I got a different wine so be specific but the wine was good and the fish soup I ordered was delicious. We ended up spending all afternoon and evening at this place but we had such great conversations.
The next day most of my co-workers had left and only 4 of us were left. Together we decided to discover all the sights of Trogir and just go with the flow. Breakfast we enjoyed at a nice place away from the waterfront, restaurant Calebotta, they had a small breakfast menu but we each found something we liked, the service was really good and the waitress payed attention to our needs and wishes. The food was done well and the taste was great and the guys loved the coffee. Next stop was the cathedral to go up the bell tower but we missed the first entrance time, decision was made to come back later. Because the park including market was close by we took a walk thru it and ended up at the fort Kamerlengo. Which was pretty impressive and a must see thing for everybody who is going to see Trogir when in Croatia. When we were done it was almost time for the cathedral to open the doors again so we walked back and had a drink before entering the building and walking up all the way to the bells and enjoying the view. The view was amazing and you could see everything, buildings, mountains, ocean and boats.
Because the guys, all skippers wanted to see the marina, we went to see the ACI Trogir marina and watch people park their boats. After that most of the day was already over and we were hungry and tired at the same time and the comfortable couch in our airbnb won. Together we went back home to relax a little before we go out for dinner. One of my mates found a great restaurant online and we pre-ordered a table. It was really easy to find and from the outside it looked like nothing amazing but when you walk in to the courtyard it just takes your breath away. We had a really great waitress she payed attention and took the time to answer our questions about the food, the wine and the restaurant. The restaurant was well visited and had okay prices for the super yummy food. Gosh I would go right now and it at the TRS restaurant again if I could but I’m back in Austria. This was the first restaurant we went to which had a “greeting from the kitchen” and home made bread, which was absolutely amazing by the way. We had a blast at the restaurant and went for ice cream afterwards and than straight home into our cozy beds, the next day was travel time for the rest of us.
I woke up early to be able to say good bye to all my co-workers and tell them see you again in a couple of months. Even I just knew them for 1 week they felt like family at the end of it and I’m still talking to them every day and can’t wait to see them again. If you ever think about working on sailing boats, do it! It will chance the way you see the world especially other people.
