First when I started my travels this Fall my thoughts went to spending 2 weeks in New Jersey and New York City but after thinking about for a couple I changed my mind pretty quickly. When living there for over 1 year you have seen most of the sights.
When deciding on where else to go I was torn between Denver, Colorado and Dallas, Texas but only for like 10 minutes. Final decision was 1 week in the North east and 1 week in the South, the warm weather and my love for cowboys might have played a big role.
But enough of that lucky me I have friends in many places over the world as well as in Texas and with them I the chance to discover and explore many great bars and restaurants, which I would have never seen without them. My 7 top picks I will share now with you.
7 recommended bars and restaurant in Dallas
As soon as I saw this I was mesmerized by the huge outside patio with the Picknick tables and the huge stage as well as the many options to take cute pictures. If you are looking for a great spot to take pictures, there we go. This restaurant is country all the way, from saddles in the stalls to bulls standing around in the backyard. They offer good local beer as well as amazing food. I had the chance to try the nachos with queso followed by a salad called “that salad”. Sadly they only have live music in the evenings, which I would have loved to join but never came back.
This is not really a bar or a restaurant but I was lucky enough to come just at the right time to Dallas. Together with 3 friends I was able to attend this walk, which might be something different than you think now. It is happening every 3rd Thursday a month in Deep Ellum and it is very popular. We got there early enough to not be stuck in the crowds. This wine walk is more build like a exposing stored to the public than a real wine walk. The 10 stores who participated offered at entrance a sip of wine and it helped them a lot. I talked to some of the store owners and each of them was like: Most people don’t know we are here but after a wine walk they come back to buy stuff. To participate the fee is 10$ and you get a cup with it. Was a lot of fun.
I went to brunch on Sunday, was surprised that it wasn’t packed but I knew the football game would be on in a little bit so I knew everybody is going to the bars right now. Even tho it was almost empty it took a little while to be seated and get our orders but nothing to crazy. The food selection was a ok and only two options were vegetarian/vegan and not one of it was from the brunch menu. They offered french toast and I took it, when it was served it had more sausages and ham on it than french toast. I was disappointed because it was not stated on the menu otherwise I would have mentioned that I don’t eat meat. On the other side my friends enjoyed there dished and the mimosas were amazing. We came back once for drinks at night it was a much better experience.
A newly opened bar in Deep Ellum with a nice rooftop bar and it is to die for. The atmosphere is amazing and I could spend hours up there and sip on my drink. The bar tenders are really quick and the drinks taste amazing which is a big thing because I have been to many places and had the chance to taste many drinks. If you want to have a good overlook of Deep Ellum you need to have a drink up here.
When visiting at the farmers market I stopped by here and to also visit a friend at her job and it was bomb. Like no more words needed, the food was just amazing and the servers are super friendly and quick. I had a kale salad with salmon on top and after eating this amazing salad I could have it every day.
I enjoyed the open-air courtyard here after the wine walk and decided to have dinner here too. To be honest this stop is great for the atmosphere and the drink menu but would not really come again to have dinner. Salads were great but rest was decent. Even tho it was really full the server was really quick and had a good joke.
This spot first crossed my sight when I went for a walk at the Katy trail and I went back to watch the football game Dallas Cowboys vs 49ers, which the Cowboys won. This is as authentic Texas as it can be when you want to watch football games. Great beer selection and the servers are fast and nice. Because I had food before I did not enjoy any food but some other people close to me had some and what I saw and smelled tempted me to come back next time I’m around.
Now that you know my favorite spots in Dallas to go for a drink or a good meal I can’t wait to hear your about your favorite spots or where else I need to go to check out restaurants and bars. Which are your favorite bars?
All of the above is my honest opinion and if I did not like any of them I would not have mentioned them at all. With some I’m critical but at the end I know it is really hard to please me 100% due to my Background in hospitality and tourism. Sadly I was having such great times at those establishments that I did not take any great pictures of the spots it selves but to me memories count more than any picture.
