Hiking in Los Angeles: Griffith Park

Griffith Park exploration and hiking trails Vienista by Daniela

Hello Globetrotters,

As you might have guessed by now I´m a pretty active person. I try to use my time active and less passive, sitting on a couch never made anyone happy. Since I´m from Austria and I love “my” mountains I also love to hike and explore the environment. When I hike my body and mind are just happy and I can relax and calm down. You ever had that feeling achieving something? looking around and just feeling happy? This is what I feel when I´m on top of the mountain and enjoy the view.

Almost a year ago I lived in Los Angeles and had the chance to explore the hiking trails in Griffith park. I never even thought about LA and hiking would fit together but it has more trails then most cities. When you are like me from somewhere were hiking is really big and in common you might not find those paths challenging because of the easiness they have to them and most of them are broad and some people even wear flip-flops or ugg boots to “hike” them.

Together with friends I made this hike up to the observation. First we only wanted to go to the top and turn around again but we were so fast that we had time to climb up a 2nd trail. The second one was more advanced than the first one but still pretty easy. During our hike we came across that one group of people and I knew I had seen that girl before we started to talk about it and after a little google session we found out her name and we asked if we can take a picture with her. Never thought about things like that could happen to me but I guess I was lucky. Lauren Collins was really nice and happy to meet some new people especially from different countries.

Back down the mountain we decided to pay a visit to IHOP and I´m still not convinced that they are a good restaurant at all. A little rant is now following but someone has to do it. First of all the waiters were really slow and when we ordered it took forever until we had the food on our tables and when we had it, it was cold and the omelette wasn´t rally a omlette and the pancakes were dry. I could go on for days but to make it short, never had a good waiter in an IHOP or good food.

That’s so fun! I’ve been to Griffith Park a number of times — you can find an abandoned zoo there, and I love the observatory. But can you believe I’ve never done the hiking trails? Something I need to fix right away! You look like you had a great time!
